Negotiations/Settlements
Hickmans over the years have achieved great success with negotiating costs settlement. We will always try to negotiate a settlement if possible as this usually results in a much quicker result for our clients.
Points of Dispute & Replies
If negotiations are not successful, Hickmans are very proficient in preparing Points of Dispute (Replies) in the hope of settling costs prior to any necessary court proceedings. Also to avoid the lengthy court process, if settlement is still not obtainable after PODs/Replies and further negotiations, then Hickmans will always offer CADR (Costs Alternative Dispute Resolution) to the otherside in the first instance which is much quicker, avoids the potential costs of detailed assessment, will be binding (subject to agreement) and would have the added benefit that an experienced former Costs Judge would assess the costs.
